Survey Crew Chief I
Lead and coordinate survey field crews in conducting land surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys.

- Occasional Saturdays on an as needed basis

Essential Functions
- Maintain the seven core values of Precision Surveying & Consulting.
- Ability to Perform all duties listed on Survey Tech II duties in addition to the following but not limited to:
- Ability to perform physical labor (i.e., strenuous walking, and lifting catch basin grates/manhole covers, hauling equipment) and physically maneuver around construction sites, including accessing excavations, trenches, structures, and other disturbed areas; Capable of lifting and carrying 50 pounds.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- A minimum of 2-3 years' experience including topographic, construction staking, boundary, and data collection required.
- Operate various survey equipment (GPS, Robotics, and Total Stations)
- Knowledge of tablet functions and ability to navigate through said functions.
- Ability to back up and record tablet data on a weekly basis (more frequently if needed).
- Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude
- Ability to set up and run all equipment.
- Able to perform a Level Loop
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Receive and follow directions.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the actions and productivity of a field crew as well as the operation and maintenance of survey equipment.
- Maintain a direct working relationship with subordinate members of crew.
- Ability to direct and give instruction to subordinate members of crew.
- Ability to coach and encourage survey techs to learn the PSC way.
- Ability to look for and find noticeable mistakes in office calculations from staking results in the field.
- Ability to verify all equipment is in proper working condition.
- Work directly with the Survey Manager and Licensed Surveyor in development of proposals and coordinate with clients on existing projects.
- Cultivate clients and suggest other possible options for layout to achieve the same outcome but with less fieldwork if applicable.
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients.
- Read and comprehend construction drawings. Calculate construction layouts. Work directly with design engineers, clients, safety officers, and the public.
- Understand demands of project. Ability to view a set of plans and see potential errors in calculations.
- Run Crew with limited help from Survey Manager.
- Know when to ask for help and not to be afraid to ask for assistance.
- When asking for help try to have a clear understanding of what the issue is. Be ready to discuss solutions you have tried already.
- Plan and execute an efficient scanning/survey workflow.
- Work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Comply with all Construction Site OSHA rules.
- Know when to step back and re-evaluate potential safety problems.
